Valença “An engineering wonder”

We were lucky to have had the opportunity to stay in Valenca for a night, on our way to Santiago in Spain, for the Camino Portugues hike. 

The Fortaleza is so worth the visit. I found the well-preserved military fort, with several thick walls of protection, over several heights, an engineering wonder! I cannot help but imagine how people from the earlier times brought the monstrous blocks of stone to this location and how they were able to lay these one on top of another! 

It is located on the Minho River. You will be able to see the bridge that links Portugal to Spain, as well as Tui, the first town in Spain, from the Fortaleza.
